Risk management and insurance claims leader joins governance of international accreditor
February 3, 2011, Tucson, Arizona -- Robert H. Short, president of Pinnacle Risk Management Services, in Salt Lake City, Utah, was elected to a seat on the CARF Board of Directors, during the board's December meeting. Short will serve a three-year term that began January 1, 2011.
The board provides governance for CARF International, a nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.
"Robert Short understands both the insurance and the service provider sides of the insurance claims field," said Cathy Ellis, PT, chair of the CARF Board of Directors. "His perspective on the board will be insightful and enriched by more than 30 years of experience in the field."
"As demand for care and governmental regulations increase, I believe it is important to ensure continuity of quality health services," Short said. "My focus on the board will be to carry out CARF's mission to enhance the lives of persons who receive health and human services."
Pinnacle Risk Management Services is a third-party administrator of workers' compensation, general liability, medical malpractice, and auto liability claims. With offices in ten states, Pinnacle's clients include insurance companies, governmental entities, and self-insured employers.
In addition to serving as president of Pinnacle since 2002, Short is senior vice president and chief claims officer of Workers Compensation Fund, a Salt Lake City-based mutual insurance company specializing in workers compensation insurance. He has held that position since 1993.
Short previously served in executive positions in Salt Lake City at ALTA Health Strategies, Inc., and CIGNA.
