CARF’s managing director of employment and community services, Pete Hathaway, spoke with Steve Hill, CEO of ABC Inc. in Rochester, Minnesota. Steve has been a CARF surveyor for nearly 40 years, and recently announced that he will be retiring at the end of April, 2016. Parity and the modern boom time for mental healthcare in the United States

What we are seeing today, for the first time in my career, is a mainstream attitude in the United States that mental health treatment should be on par and equal with that of other illnesses. However, growth in service offerings has been slow. We must utilize this historic opportunity to move forward with greater capacity and efforts toward integrating mental and behavioral healthcare with primary healthcare. As part of CARF’s 50th year anniversary, we will be sharing snapshots of the industries in which we offer accreditation services. CARF to celebrate 50th anniversary throughout 2016

CARF International will be celebrating its 50th year of business in 2016. Please join us as we celebrate the anniversary and honor the people and groups that have made the continued pursuit of our mission possible. Throughout the year, we will release publications and other materials to our 50th anniversary webpage, such as articles, artwork from persons served, an interactive timeline, an online guestbook, and other neat additions.
