CARF International names Pete Hathaway as managing director of Employment and Community Services

CARF staff member and former surveyor brings 25 years in the rehabilitation field

April 1, 2013, Tucson, Arizona -- CARF International President/CEO Brian J. Boon, Ph.D., announced that Pete Hathaway has accepted an appointment as the managing director of CARF International's Employment and Community Services (ECS) accreditation area beginning today.

Well known in the rehabilitation field, Hathaway has been a CARF resource specialist since 2006 and a frequent presenter at CARF's educational events. Before joining CARF as a full-time staff member, Hathaway served as a CARF surveyor for 11 years and worked at CARF-accredited organizations for 17 years.

During his years of service, Hathaway has managed community-based services for adults and children with disabilities and their families. He also has been a contract manager for a state governmental agency.

"All of these experiences provide Pete with an excellent foundation to represent CARF to its current and future customers, consumers and their advocates, regulators, and payers," Boon said.

As managing director, Hathaway will be responsible for planning and executing CARF's strategic business activities related to standards development and accreditation growth in the ECS accreditation area. He will conduct in-depth research and analysis of market data and deliver presentations on the CARF standards, accreditation process, and marketing trends to decision makers. He will also represent CARF at industry associations, conferences, and symposia.

Hathaway said, "I look forward to working with accredited organizations, surveyors, funders of services, and other stakeholders to find creative ways to meet the needs of persons with disabilities and their families."

CARF International is a nonprofit accreditor that has been accrediting health and human services since 1966. CARF-accredited employment and community services are provided at close to 10,000 locations in the United States and Canada.
